Keynote Speaker

First Lady Cheri Daniels

First Lady Cheri Daniels, a lifelong Hoosier, was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana. She has a degree in journalism from Indiana University-Bloomington.

In her role as first lady, Mrs. Daniels focuses much of her attention on raising awareness about women's heart disease. She has formed a partnership with the Indiana State Department of Health to create Heart to Heart, a program that takes her message of living a heart-healthy life to college campuses, hospitals and civic groups. In addition to advocating physical fitness and nutrition for all Hoosiers through the governor’s INShape Indiana initiative, Mrs. Daniels visits schools across the state to encourage education and literacy. She is a published author, having released her first children’s book in 2008.

The first lady and her husband, Governor Mitch Daniels, have four daughters: Meagan, Melissa, Meredith and Margaret. In her free time, Mrs. Daniels enjoys reading, golfing, exercising, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
