STEAM Goes Red is the American Heart Association’s nationwide movement dedicated to empowering a future generation of STEAM leaders, while providing them with the tools and resources for living long, healthy lives. As cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of women, ensuring more women are at the forefront of developing science, technology, education, art, and math (STEAM) solutions has never been more imperative. STEAM is our future and as a science-based organization, STEAM is at the heart of who we are and what we do.

The Need.

Women fill close to half of all jobs in the U.S., but hold less than 25% of STEAM jobs, of which there are millions becoming available. Employment in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) occupations is projected to grow, and women are vastly underrepresented in these fields. The demand for workers in the STEAM fields is outpacing the number of college graduates with science, technology, engineering, art, and math degrees.
